The California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system. Minimum requirements for graduation:

A master's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited college or university that includes courses in nursing education or administration.

Required Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will assume a leadership role in teaching nursing at the undergraduate level and in the BRN content area, as well as assessing student learning and teaching outcomes. Possession of an active California RN license; at least one year's experience in conducting courses related to medical-surgical nursing or a course that includes practical nursing training; At least two years of continuous, full-time experience in a direct patient care practice as an RN and at least one year of uninterrupted, full-time experience in a direct patient care practice as an RN within the last 3 years or Board of Registered Nurse Eligibility to teach medical-surgical nursing.
  • As a condition of employment, this position requires a background check. The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must meet the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to work effectively and attract a diverse student population, and demonstrate how they would successfully mentor minority students, with a particular focus on Hispanic, Black/African American, Native American, and Pacific Asian/Asiatic/Icelandic students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Qualified to teach medical-surgical care areas such as critical care, emergencies, telemetry, medical care units, surgical and ambulatory care units. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Flexibility in teaching assignments.
